Job Description

Working in Nordic Market Access Platform Team

Energy Management is responsible for energy management of all Statkraft’s own and 3rd party assets and consumers in Europe, delivering production planning and access to physical energy markets. We also deliver weather, hydrology, climate and market analysis across Statkraft.

Digitalisation Energy Management (MED) unit supports the Energy Management (ME) business owners managing the business requirements for the IT systems on behalf of ME, with a professional interface towards IT. Furthermore, the unit supports the commercial energy management process with automation, analysis, structuring and pricing, and by providing an algorithmic trading infrastructure. The unit’s responsibility requires an in-depth understanding of the business processes and system landscape in ME.

The Nordic Market Access Platform team delivers management, development and improvements of systems supporting Nordic Market Access Platform (iMA) for industrial customers and 3rd party flex assets. A part of this is algorithmic trading and virtual power plant solutions that automatically balance, trade and steer asset flexibility in real-time and run proprietary trading activities. The exciting and innovative projects the team works on together with origination are revolutionizing Statkraft's energy management operations and helping to keep Statkraft as a leading market participant in the complex energy markets of the future.

Key responsibilities

As Commercial Analyst in the Nordic Market Access Platform team you’ll:

  • Support Origination in growing the Nordic customer portfolio and have a focus on customer satisfaction and value creation.
  • Take the end-to-end responsibility for design and implementation of new business products for customers in close cooperation with IT and front office teams. Assure the whole value change is covered from customer interaction to settlement and invoicing.
  • Develop, improve and document robust optimisation and trading algorithms for a wide spectrum of customers flexible assets, such as furnaces, industrial processes, electric boilers, batteries, EVs, heating, etc.
  • Collect and engineer the data necessary for modelling together with the IT development team
  • Analyse and improve forecasting methodologies.
  • Assure the solutions are in line with current and coming market structures and regulations
  • Take part in customer meetings and present analyses regarding the customers’ consumption and trading strategies.
  • Make energy management easy for the customers!

Qualifications

We are looking for graduates and young professionals with backgrounds in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or Business with the essential skills to future-proof our business and renewable energy solutions. That includes knowledge in:

  • Excellent university degree, e.g. in mathematics, physics, computer science or business with strong quantitative focus
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial mind set, quick learner
  • High diligence and quality in coding and model development preferably experience in Python
  • Modelling and programming experience
  • Experience as a power trader is an asset
  • Proven ability to design and implement business processes and products
  • Proactive and independent way of working, high reliability, strong communication skills
