As Project Manager you will organize the development and construction of this project on Tarrafal, Santiago Island, Cape Verde. You will work with a local team to establish all the different areas needed to operate a successful Bike Station. The Bike Station will be based around King Fisher Village, which is run by a Swiss management company.
Roles and responsibilities as Project Manager:
- Trail building network: Set up and expand the existing trails, find and build new trails and arrange all necessary maintenance. Set up local trail building team to create new trails and for trail maintenance. Organise trail building tools and machinery.
- Develop bike touring and bike programs for guests: Easier tours (S1/S2) and more difficult tours (S2/S3), find and know water refilling options and break areas, know mobile connection and pick-up in case of emergencies
- Set up of bike test+hire center and shop (will be partly concluded)
- Hire, train and coach local bike guides; Set up responsibilities for guides at King Fisher, train guiding soft features
- Hire, train and develop local mechanics.
- Work with the marketing department of Scott and other tour operators to support travel marketing: report proceeding milestones with photos and gps-data (new trail releases, concluded works at king fisher and on the trails)
- Ensure high standards of quality for the biking destination.
What we expect from you:
- Experience in trail building and development.
- Personal interest in and affinity with mountain biking and travel, especially sports travel.
- Ability to repair bikes and good technical knowledge.
- An open, communicative and well-organized approach.
- An independent mindset.
- Willingness to live on Cape Verde and take the initiative to drive this project forward.
- Languages: Spoken and written English, Portuguese would be hugely beneficial.
- Ability to use current GPS planning tools.
